App Icon Generator
Generate the complete iOS and Android app icon sets from one square image: Icon-App sizes for Xcode plus mipmap densities and the 512 Play Store icon, correctly named and packed into ZIPs. Free and fully local.
Which icon sizes does the iOS set include?
It produces the full current Xcode asset list: 20, 29, 40 and 60 pt icons at 1x/2x/3x where applicable, 76 and 152 for iPad, 167 for iPad Pro, and the 1024 marketing icon — 15 PNG files with names like Icon-App-60x60@3x.png.
What does the Android set contain?
Five launcher icons named ic_launcher.png inside mipmap-mdpi, -hdpi, -xhdpi, -xxhdpi and -xxxhdpi folders (48, 72, 96, 144 and 192 px) plus a 512 px ic_launcher-playstore.png for the Google Play listing.
Why should the source image be at least 1024 px?
The largest generated icon is 1024 px. From a bigger source every icon is downscaled, which stays sharp; from a smaller source the 1024 icon must be upscaled and will look soft. The tool warns you when your image is under 1024 px.
Do I need to round the corners of the icons?
No. iOS and Android apply their own masks at runtime, so exported icons must be full square images. The rounded preview toggle only helps you imagine the store appearance and does not change the exported files.
How does the tool keep small icons sharp?
Large reductions are done progressively: the image is first halved step by step on intermediate canvases and only then drawn at the final size, which avoids the aliasing you get from a single big downscale.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, scaling and ZIP packing all happen locally in your browser using the Canvas API and a bundled ZIP library. Nothing leaves your device.
How do I get the files into Xcode or Android Studio?
Download the iOS ZIP and drag the Icon-App files into the AppIcon asset catalog; download the Android ZIP and copy each mipmap-xxxxx folder into app/src/main/res. The all-in-one ZIP keeps both platforms in ios/ and android/ folders.
What file format are the icons?
Every icon is exported as PNG, the format required by both Xcode asset catalogs and Android resource folders, with transparent background preserved if your source image has one.
How to Use App Icon Generator
This generator takes one square image and produces every icon an app store submission needs: the current Xcode Icon-App list (20 through 1024, including 76@2x and 83.5@2x) plus Android mipmap densities 48/72/96/144/192 and the 512 Play Store icon. Non-square images are center-cropped, downscaling runs through progressive halving for crisp edges, and everything is packed locally in your browser.
- Drop a square image onto the upload area, click it to browse, or paste from the clipboard — 1024×1024 or larger works best.
- Check the source info line: it shows the original size and warns you when the image is under 1024 px.
- Browse the two preview groups — iOS icons (15) and Android icons (6) — each tile labelled with its pixel size.
- Toggle Rounded preview to imagine the store look; exports always stay square because the systems apply their own masks.
- Use iOS ZIP, Android ZIP or All in one ZIP: the iOS files drop into the AppIcon asset catalog, the mipmap folders go into app/src/main/res.
Keep a 1024×1024 master PNG as your source of truth — regenerate the whole set from it whenever the design changes, so every density stays perfectly in sync.
