What is a seed and how does it affect my avatar?
The seed is the text the avatar is generated from. The same seed with the same style always produces exactly the same avatar, so you can reproduce or share a look just by sharing the seed word.
Which avatar styles are available?
There are 21 official DiceBear styles, including Adventurer, Avataaars, Big Ears, Bottts, Croodles, Fun Emoji, Identicon, Lorelei, Micah, Notionists, Open Peeps, Pixel Art and more - from friendly cartoon people to geometric abstract icons.
Should I download my avatar as PNG or SVG?
PNG is a fixed-size raster image, ideal for social networks, messengers and gaming profiles. SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without quality loss, perfect for websites, print and design tools.
Can I make the avatar background transparent?
Yes. Transparent background is enabled by default. If you prefer a solid color, untick the transparent option and pick any color with the color picker.
Can I use the generated avatars commercially?
The avatars are generated by the open-source DiceBear library. Most included styles are free for personal and commercial use, but individual styles carry different licenses, so check the license of your chosen style for commercial projects.
Are the avatars unique?
Each seed produces a deterministic but distinctive combination of features. With random seeds, collisions between visibly identical avatars are extremely unlikely, so you can generate countless distinct identities.
What size should I choose for a profile picture?
256 px is enough for most messengers and social platforms. For retina displays, large banners or print, export 512 or 1024 px - the vector SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size.
Is any of my data uploaded?
No. The avatars are generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type or download passes through a server.
How to Use Avatar Generator
Generate cartoon avatars in 21 DiceBear styles, tuned by seed, colors, corner radius and mirroring, then export them as PNG or SVG. The avatar engine runs entirely in your browser — no account and no upload.
- Pick one of the 21 styles from the grid at the top — the large preview updates immediately, and every style keeps its own character while you tweak everything else.
- Type any word into the Seed box: the same seed always regenerates the same avatar. Press Random to roll a new one, or click any of the eight Suggestions avatars to adopt its seed.
- Uncheck Transparent background to fill the backdrop with a solid Background color, round the corners with the Corner radius slider, and tick Mirror horizontally to flip the face.
- Choose a Download size from 128 to 1024 px, then press Download PNG or Download SVG; Copy SVG code puts the raw vector markup on your clipboard for direct embedding.
- Found a keeper? Note its seed before you close the page — re-entering it later reproduces the exact same avatar.
The seed is the avatar's whole identity, so save the ones you like. Use SVG for print and crisp scaling at any size, and PNG for profile pictures in apps.
