Online Countdown Timer
Free online countdown timer with alarm sound and presets. Set minutes and seconds, keep the screen awake and get notified when time is up - works in any browser.
How do I set a countdown timer?
Type the hours, minutes and seconds in the three fields, or tap a preset chip such as 5 min or 10 min. Then press Start and the countdown begins immediately.
Does the timer make a sound when it finishes?
Yes. When the countdown reaches zero, a repeating alarm sounds and the display pulses with a "Time's up!" message. Press the Stop alarm button to silence it.
Will the timer keep counting if I switch browser tabs?
Yes. The remaining time is calculated from your device's clock, so the countdown continues accurately even when the page is in the background. The tab title also shows the time left.
Does the screen stay on while the timer runs?
On supported browsers the timer uses the Wake Lock API to keep your screen awake while counting down. If the browser does not support it, the timer still works normally.
Can I add time while the timer is running?
Yes, press the +1 min button at any moment to extend the countdown by one minute without stopping it - handy for boiling an egg a little longer or giving a talk extra time.
Is this countdown timer free?
Yes, the timer is completely free with no limits, sign-up or installation. It runs entirely in your browser on both desktop and mobile.
Can I use the timer offline?
Once the page has loaded, the countdown and alarm work entirely offline. No data is sent to any server and no internet connection is needed while it runs.
What is this online timer useful for?
Common uses include kitchen and egg timers, workout and HIIT intervals, study sprints such as Pomodoro sessions, meeting timeboxes, classroom activities, board games and short naps.
