How does this ID photo maker work?

Which ID photo sizes are supported?
The tool includes common sizes: 1-inch 295×413, 2-inch 413×579, small 2-inch 390×567, US visa 600×600, plus a custom width and height mode for any other requirement.
How is the photo positioned automatically?
The subject is scaled so its width is at most 62% of the frame (or its height at most 86%), the top of the head is placed 10% from the top edge, and the photo is centered horizontally - matching common biometric guidelines.
Which background colors can I choose?
White, the common blue used by many ID offices, red, or any custom color via the color picker. The background is applied after the subject is cut out, so edges stay clean.
What is the 6-inch print sheet?
When you select the 1-inch or 2-inch size, the tool can generate a 1800×1200 print sheet containing eight 1-inch photos or four 2-inch photos with crop marks, ready to print on 6-inch photo paper.
Do my photos get uploaded to a server?
No. The background removal model is downloaded to your browser once and runs locally in a Web Worker. Your portrait is processed on your device and never stored anywhere.
Why does the first conversion take longer?
On first use the AI model (a few dozen megabytes) is downloaded from a CDN and cached. After that, processing is much faster. If the download fails, the tool tells you to check your network and retry.
What makes a good source photo?
Use a well-lit, front-facing photo where the whole head and shoulders are visible, without hats or sunglasses. The clearer the subject stands out from the background, the cleaner the cutout and composition.
What resolution are the exported photos?
The photo is exported at the exact pixel size of the chosen format (for example 295×413), which corresponds to standard print DPI for that paper size. PNG is lossless; JPG uses high quality (0.92) for smaller files.
How to Use ID Photo Maker
Turn an ordinary portrait into a passport- or ID-standard photo: the person is cut out automatically, placed on the required background and framed to the exact print dimensions. The AI cutout runs locally in your browser — after a one-time model download, no photo is ever uploaded.

- Press “Remove background”. The first run downloads the AI model once (an internet connection is needed for this), then the person is cut out automatically; if no person is detected, retake the photo with the face clearly visible and facing the camera.

The print sheet is laid out for 6×4 inch (15×10 cm) photo paper at 300 DPI — print it without margins and cut along the marks in the corners.
