How do I split a photo into a 3×3 grid for Instagram?

Which grid layouts are available?
You can choose 3×3 for the classic nine-post profile puzzle, 2×2 for four larger tiles, and 1×3 or 3×1 panoramas that span three posts vertically or horizontally in your feed.
Does the tool crop my photo to a square?
Yes. The visible area is a centered square crop, the same shape Instagram shows in the profile grid. The preview shows exactly what will be cut, with grid lines overlaying the crop area.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. All cutting and packing happens locally in your browser with the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, which makes the tool safe for private or client photos.
What file format and quality are the tiles?
Tiles are saved as JPEG. The quality is adjustable from 0.6 to 1.0 and defaults to 0.92, which keeps files small while looking clean on a phone screen. Raise it to 1.0 for maximum detail.
What are the tile file names?
Each tile is named after your original file with a sequential number, for example photo_1.jpg through photo_9.jpg, so posting them in order is easy. The ZIP packs all tiles with the same names.
Can I download all tiles at once?
Yes. The Download all button packs every tile into a single ZIP archive, and the grid option decides how many tiles are inside, from 4 up to 9.
What image sizes work best?
Square or near-square images need the least cropping, but any size works because the crop is automatic. Larger sources produce sharper tiles; a 1080×1080 source gives 360×360 tiles in a 3×3 grid.
How to Use Instagram Grid Splitter
This tool cuts one photo into the tiles of an Instagram grid: 3×3 for the classic profile puzzle, 2×2 for four big tiles, or 1×3 / 3×1 panoramas that span three posts. The image is cropped to a centered square exactly where the profile grid shows it, every tile is rendered on its own canvas, and nothing is uploaded — all processing stays in your browser.
- Drop a photo onto the upload area, click it, or paste an image from the clipboard.
- Pick a layout in the Grid selector: 3 × 3 feed grid, 2 × 2 feed grid, 1 × 3 vertical panorama or 3 × 1 horizontal panorama.
- Check the centered crop preview with grid overlay and the size info line that shows the original size, the tile size and the tile count.
- Move the JPEG quality slider between 60% and 100% if you want smaller or sharper files.
- Click the download icon on any tile to save just that tile, or use Download all (ZIP) to get every numbered tile in one archive.
Post the tiles in numerical order, one Instagram post at a time — row by row, left to right — and the puzzle lines up on your profile grid.
