Mouse Test
Free online mouse test. Check left, right, middle and side buttons, scroll wheel, double-click speed and dragging on a live test area. Runs 100% locally in your browser.
What can this mouse test check?
It counts clicks on left, right and middle buttons plus two side buttons, counts scroll wheel ticks up and down, measures the gap between double-clicks, tracks drag distance and shows live pointer coordinates.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The test runs entirely in your browser with standard mouse events, so it works on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS with any connected mouse or trackpad.
Is information about my mouse sent anywhere?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser. Button counts and movements never leave the page.
Why is the right-click menu disabled in the test area?
The browser context menu would cover the test area and block right-button clicks. It is suppressed inside the test area only, so right-button clicks can be counted.
How do I test the side buttons?
Simply press them anywhere in the test area. The Side 1 and Side 2 tiles light up and count each press. Note that some mice need vendor software for extra buttons to send standard events.
What does the double-click gap mean?
It is the time in milliseconds between your last two left clicks when they are less than 800 ms apart — useful to compare double-click speed or test a flaky switch.
Why is my middle click not counted?
On some laptops and compact mice the middle button is a scroll-wheel press that may be remapped or need firm pressure. Try pressing the wheel straight down inside the test area.
Does the test work on touchscreens and touchpads?
Touchscreens register as left clicks, and touchpads register whatever button gesture they emulate, so the tool works there too, but true multi-button tests need a real mouse.
How to Use Mouse Test
This mouse test counts every button press, scroll tick and drag right inside your browser, drawing your movement path on a live grid. Nothing is installed and no data leaves your device.
- Move the pointer inside the test area — the live coordinate badge follows your movements.
- Click each mouse button over the grid: Left, Middle, Right, Side 1 and Side 2 light up with a running count.
- Scroll the wheel up and down over the area to count ticks in each direction.
- Double-click twice quickly with the left button and read the "Double-click gap" in milliseconds.
- Hold a button and drag across the grid to draw a line and record the total drag distance, then press Reset to start over.
If double-clicks feel inconsistent or clicks register twice, the switch may be wearing out — compare the gap values across several fast clicks to spot it.
