How does PNG to SVG conversion work?

Which images convert best to SVG?

Logo / icon uses only 2 colors for crisp shapes, Illustration uses 16 colors for artwork, Illustration (detail) raises colors to 32 and increases precision, Black & white silhouette forces a two-tone palette, and Custom lets you set everything manually.
What do the Colors and Detail sliders do?
Colors sets how many distinct colors the traced SVG may use (2-32). Detail controls the tolerance of curve fitting (lower values follow edges more closely, producing finer but heavier paths).
Why is my image scaled down to 1600px?
Tracing very large images is slow and memory-hungry. The tool downsizes anything longer than 1600px on its longest side before tracing. If you need more resolution, enable the switch to allow up to 3000px.
Can I convert a JPG or photo to SVG?
Yes. Any bitmap your browser can decode works: PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP and more. For photos, start with the detail mode and a higher color count, then adjust until you like the balance of fidelity and file size.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding and tracing happen locally in your browser in a Web Worker. Your image never leaves your device, making the tool safe for private or licensed artwork.
How do I use the downloaded SVG file?

Why is my traced SVG file so large?
SVG size grows with the number of shapes, which increases with color count and detail. Reduce the number of colors, raise the detail tolerance, or downscale the source image to get a lighter file.
