Sass to CSS
Compile Sass and SCSS to CSS online. Real-time conversion with expanded or compressed output, error line numbers and full support for variables, mixins and nesting.
What is the difference between Sass and SCSS?
SCSS is the newer, CSS-like syntax that uses braces and semicolons. Sass (the indented syntax) uses indentation and new lines instead. This tool compiles both - just pick the syntax in the dropdown.
Which Sass features are supported?
The compiler runs the official Dart Sass engine, so variables, nesting, mixins, @include, functions, @use, @extend, control directives like @if and @each, and the compressed output style are all supported.
How do I get compressed (minified) CSS?
Set the output style dropdown to Compressed before compiling. Whitespace and the final semicolon are stripped, producing the smallest possible stylesheet.
Why does the error show a line number?
When your code has a syntax error, the Sass engine reports the exact line and column where parsing failed, and the tool displays it above the output so you can fix it quickly.
Is my Sass code uploaded to a server?
No. The full Dart Sass engine is bundled with the page and compiles locally in your browser. Your stylesheets never leave your device, which makes the tool safe even for private projects.
Can I compile @import of local files?
No. The compiler works on a single snippet in memory and has no access to your file system, so file-based imports and @use of external partials cannot be resolved.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the page and the compiler bundle have loaded once, compilation happens entirely on your machine, no connection required.
How do I use the output?
Copy the compiled CSS to the clipboard or download it as style.css with the buttons below the output, then link it in your HTML or paste it into your project's stylesheet.
How to Use Sass to CSS
This compiler runs the official Dart Sass engine entirely in your browser. Paste SCSS or indented Sass and get clean CSS instantly - variables, mixins, nesting and functions all supported, nothing uploaded.
- Paste your Sass or SCSS into the input box, or press Example to load a working demo with variables and a mixin.
- Pick the syntax (SCSS or indented Sass) and the output style (Expanded or Compressed) from the dropdowns.
- With Live compile enabled, the CSS appears as you type; otherwise press Compile to run it manually.
- If there is a syntax error, the exact line number and message appear above the output so you can fix it fast.
- Use Copy or Download below the output to grab your compiled stylesheet as style.css.
Choose the Compressed output style to minify your stylesheet - great for production builds straight from source.
