Citation Generator
Create citations in APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard and Vancouver styles, or export BibTeX. Fill a simple form or paste BibTeX — formatting runs entirely in your browser, with no online lookups and nothing uploaded.
How to Use Citation Generator
Citation Generator turns reference data into correctly formatted citations without any online lookups. Fill in the manual form (journal article, book, webpage or conference paper) with dynamic fields — multiple authors, title, year, publication, volume, issue, pages, URL, institution — or paste a complete BibTeX entry and let the local parser fill the list. Pick a style — APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver or BibTeX export — and every entry in your list is rendered on the spot. Manage the list by deleting or reordering entries, copy single citations, copy the whole formatted list, or download it as a .txt file. All parsing and formatting happen locally in your browser: the tool never fetches metadata by DOI, ISBN or URL, and nothing is uploaded.
- Open the Manual form tab, choose the source type with the Type selector: journal article, book, webpage or conference paper — the visible fields adjust automatically.
- Add one author per row with Add author, written as Family, Given (for example Smith, John); remove a row with its × button. Then fill title, year and the fields shown for your type.
- Alternatively open the Paste BibTeX tab, paste one or more @article/@book/@misc entries, and press Parse — the entries land in the list as parsed references.
- Choose the output style with the Style selector: APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver or BibTeX. Every card in the list re-renders instantly in the chosen style.
- On each card use the copy button for that single citation, or delete and reorder entries with the arrow buttons; the whole list can be copied at once or downloaded as a .txt bibliography.
Because this tool is purely offline, it cannot fill in details from a DOI, ISBN or URL — the more complete your fields (or the pasted BibTeX), the more accurate the output. The order of authors matters in every style, so keep them in citation order. Everything stays in the current page: refreshing clears the list, so download the .txt before you close the tab.
