What is an EPUB file?
EPUB is the most widely used e-book format. An .epub file is a ZIP archive containing HTML chapters, CSS styling, images and metadata, which is why it can be rendered directly by a browser-based reader.
How do I open an EPUB file online?
Click or drag your .epub file into the upload area. The book opens in a paginated reader with a table of contents, and you can start reading immediately without installing any software.
Is my e-book uploaded to a server?
No. The EPUB is parsed locally in your browser by the epub.js library. Your file never leaves your device, so copyrighted and personal books are safe to read here.
Can I change the font size while reading?
Yes. The A- and A+ buttons adjust the text size between 90% and 160%, and the layout re-flows automatically so no text is cut off at any size.
Does the reader remember where I stopped reading?
Yes. Your position is saved in the browser for each book, so when you reopen the same file the reader jumps back to where you left off. Closing the browser or clearing site data removes it.
How do I navigate through the book?
Use the Previous and Next buttons, the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard, or click any entry in the table of contents to jump straight to that chapter.
Why does my book have no table of contents?
Some EPUB files are built without a navigation document. In that case the reader switches to continuous scroll mode, and you can still read the whole book - only the chapter jump list is unavailable.
Does the reader work in dark mode?
Yes. The book content follows the platform theme: switching to dark mode re-colors the text for comfortable night reading while the page background stays transparent.
Which EPUB features are supported?
Standard EPUB 2 and 3 reflowable books work best, including images and styled text. Some heavily DRM-protected files from commercial stores cannot be opened because they are encrypted.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no hard limit, but very large books (hundreds of megabytes) may load more slowly depending on your device memory, since the whole file is processed locally in the browser.
How to Use EPUB Reader
Open any EPUB book right in the browser — chapter navigation, adjustable text size and progress memory included. The file is parsed on your device and never uploaded.
- Click the drop zone or drag an .epub file onto it. Once the book opens, the reader replaces the upload area and shows your position as a percentage along with the current chapter name.
- Press Contents to open the table-of-contents drawer and click a chapter to jump straight to it; on narrow screens the drawer slides over the page and closes when you tap outside it.
- Turn pages with the Previous and Next buttons or the ← / → arrow keys — the progress label updates as you move through the book.
- Use A- and A+ to shrink or enlarge the text between 90% and 160% until it reads comfortably.
- Close the tab whenever you like: reopening the same file resumes exactly where you stopped, because the position is remembered per book in your browser.
Books without a table of contents open in continuous scroll mode, which hides the page buttons — move through them with the scrollbar or touch gestures instead.
