Video Reverse
Play video backwards online free. Reverse your clip with optional reversed audio or silent output. FFmpeg runs entirely in your browser - no uploads, 100% private.
How do I play a video backwards?
Upload your clip, choose whether to reverse the audio too, and press Reverse video. The tool plays every frame from last to first and gives you a downloadable MP4.
Is the video uploaded to a server?
No. Reversing happens locally in your browser with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your clip never leaves your device.
Can I reverse the audio as well?
Yes. By default the audio track is reversed together with the video, so speech and music play backwards in sync. You can also mute the output or keep the original audio.
What video length works best?
Reversing buffers every frame in memory, so clips up to about 60 seconds give the smoothest results. Longer videos may be slow or run out of memory.
Which formats are supported?
Input can be MP4, WEBM, MOV or any format your browser can decode. Output is always MP4 (H.264) so it plays everywhere.
Why is reversing slower than normal conversion?
The reverse filter must decode and hold all frames before writing output, unlike streaming encodes. That is why shorter clips are recommended.
Can I use the reversed video for a boomerang effect?
Yes. Reverse your clip, then use a video merge or loop tool to join the original and reversed versions into a seamless back-and-forth loop.
Does it work on phones?
Yes for short clips. Because reversing is memory intensive, keep mobile clips under about 30 seconds.
Is any quality lost?
The video is re-encoded with high-quality H.264 settings (CRF 23), so visible quality loss is minimal at normal viewing.
Is the tool free?
Yes, completely free with no watermarks, sign-ups, or uploads — everything happens on your own device.
How to Use Video Reverse
Make your video play backwards without uploading anything. The reverse filter of FFmpeg — compiled to WebAssembly — reorders every frame from last to first right inside your browser, with optional reversed or muted audio.
- Click the upload area or drag in a short clip (up to about 60 seconds gives the smoothest result).
- Choose the audio behavior: reverse the audio together with the video, output a silent video, or keep the original audio untouched.
- Press Reverse video. The first run loads the FFmpeg engine from CDN, then the progress bar tracks the job.
- Preview the reversed result in the player below and press Download to save the MP4.
For a perfect boomerang loop, reverse your clip here and then join the original and reversed files with a video merge tool.
