What is EXIF data and why should I remove it?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and smartphones. It includes GPS coordinates, camera model, exposure settings, date/time, and sometimes even the device owner's name. Removing it before sharing images online protects your privacy and prevents others from tracking your location or identifying your device.
Does removing EXIF affect image quality?
No. EXIF removal only strips the metadata tags from the file header. The actual image pixels remain completely unchanged, resulting in zero loss of visual quality. For JPEG files, we use lossless binary stripping when possible, meaning the image data is never re-encoded.
What image formats are supported?
This tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF image formats. JPEG files typically contain the most EXIF data including GPS coordinates. PNG files may contain textual metadata chunks. WebP files can store EXIF data in their container. TIFF files are re-encoded as PNG since full binary EXIF stripping is not available for TIFF.

The tool removes all EXIF tags including: GPS location (latitude, longitude, altitude), camera make and model, exposure settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), date and time original, software used, thumbnail data, and any manufacturer-specific notes or user comments.
