MIDI Player
Play .mid and .midi files online with a falling-note piano roll, an 88-key visual keyboard, speed control, looping and seek. Free, no install, files never leave your browser.
How do I play a MIDI file online?
Drag a .mid or .midi file onto the page (or click the upload area to browse). The file is parsed instantly and playback starts from the player controls — no software to install.
Is my MIDI file uploaded to a server?
No. Parsing, synthesis and visualization all happen inside your browser with the Web Audio API. Your file never leaves your device.
Why does the piano sound synthesized rather than like a real recording?
Notes are played by a built-in synthesizer with a piano-like tone generated live from oscillators and envelopes. This keeps the tool completely offline with no sample downloads.
What information is shown about my MIDI file?
The info card displays the track title (or file name), total duration, number of tracks, total note count, PPQ (ticks per quarter note) and the initial tempo in BPM.
Can I change the playback speed?
Yes. The speed selector covers 0.5x to 2x. All note timings are rescaled live, which is handy for transcribing fast passages or rehearsing along.
How does the piano roll visualization work?
Every note becomes a colored rectangle falling toward the 88-key keyboard at the bottom. The rectangle reaches the keyboard exactly when the note sounds, and the key lights up in the track's color.
Does the player support more than one track?
Yes. Notes from all tracks are played together, and each track gets its own hue so you can follow melody and accompaniment separately in the animation.
Can I loop the song or jump to a specific moment?
Turn on the loop button to restart automatically from the beginning, and drag the progress bar to seek anywhere in the song — the scheduler re-aligns every note instantly.
Which instruments will I hear?
MIDI files store note data, not audio. This player renders all tracks with one piano-like synth voice, so instrument changes inside the file are not reproduced as different timbres.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The layout adapts to small screens, and playback runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop and mobile.
How to Use MIDI Player
This MIDI player turns any .mid or .midi file into an interactive performance view: notes fall onto an 88-key keyboard, every track gets its own color, and playback is scheduled on the precise Web Audio clock. Sound is generated live by a built-in piano-style synthesizer, and everything runs locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded.
- Drop a .mid or .midi file onto the upload area (or click it to browse), or press "Load sample" to try the built-in demo song.
- Read the info card: title, duration, track count, note count, PPQ and starting tempo tell you what the file contains at a glance.
- Press the round play button to start. Watch the colored note bars fall and the matching keys light up at the bottom.
- Drag the progress bar to jump anywhere in the song; the scheduler realigns every note instantly with no stuck notes.
- Use the speed selector for 0.5x–2x playback, the volume slider to adjust loudness, and the loop button to repeat the song endlessly.
Slow tricky passages down to 0.5x while following the falling notes — it is one of the fastest ways to learn a piece by ear or transcribe it.
