What is the visual memory test?
It is a pure spatial memory challenge, with no numbers and no sounds. White tiles flash on a grid for one second, everything goes blank, and you must tap every tile that was lit.
How does a round work?
First the target tiles light up for one second — memorize their positions. Then the grid goes blank and you tap the tiles you remember. Find them all to clear the round; a wrong tap costs one of your three lives.
How does the difficulty grow?
Each cleared round flashes one more tile, and the grid itself grows as needed: 3×3 at the start, 4×4 once the tile count rises, and 5×5 for the hardest rounds with more than a dozen tiles.
What is a good score?
Most people clear rounds up to 7 or 8 tiles on the 4×4 grid. Double digits on the 5×5 grid is a genuinely strong spatial memory — that is where casual play ends and trained recall begins.
Are my results uploaded anywhere?
No. Your best tile count is stored locally in your browser only — nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. Clearing the site data erases it.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The tiles are sized for fingers, taps register instantly and the grid scales to small screens, so the test feels the same on a phone as on a desktop.
Is this photographic memory?
Not exactly. True eidetic memory is extremely rare. What this test trains is spatial encoding: seeing the lit pattern as a shape rather than a list of positions, which is how strong performers reach high levels.
How can I remember more tiles?
Look at the whole grid at once and read the lit tiles as a picture — a corner block, a diagonal, two clusters. Naming the shape silently is one memory item instead of a dozen, and it carries you deep into the 5×5 rounds.
How to Use Visual Memory Test
The visual memory test measures your spatial memory without any numbers or sounds. Read the grid as a single picture rather than tile by tile: notice whether the lit pattern hugs a corner, cuts a diagonal or splits the board. Encoding the shape means one memory item instead of many — the trick that carries people past the 4×4 grid.
